Experience the luxury of fine hand-carved jadestone tea ware
Jadestone
Nowhere in the world has the hand-carving of jade reached such heights than
China.
Traditionally the indigenous nephrite forms of jadestone were worked by Chinese craftsmen,
but following the trade with Myanmar through Yunnan, the exotic emerald-green jadeite or
imperial jade became the esteemed gemstone for jewellery and ornaments.
Jade is found in two forms, jadeite and nephrite, which are very easily distinguished.
The jadeite gemstone is highly glassy, has a granular translucency and can carry a
high glass-like polish. The exposed polished edges of jadeite stone may also appear
pitted. Owing to impurities contained in
the gemstone, jadeite occurs in several colours ranging from the well known emerald-greens
to apple-greens, whites and even blues.

Jingdezhen blue & white porcelain and the emerald-green form of jade.
