ECCENTRIC TEAPOT THE ECCENTRIC TEAPOT - Abbeville Press NY 1989.
This 120 page richly illustrated book could be said to be
a celebration of all the kitsch teapots of the world. It is fascinating to see
for example how some of the more exotic Yixing pots from China influenced
English teapot designs, no doubt heralding the development more recently of
truly preposterous pots. Apart from its lavish, in the main, full
colour illustrations, this book contains worthwhile chapters on tea and tea
rituals, as well as an account of the development of teapot design. All in
all a marvellous addition to the library of anyone interested in tea or teapots.
Because of the variety and quality of its illustrations, the book is also
ideal as a "coffee table" [or should that be tea table] book.
TEAPOTS: THE CONNOISSEUR'S GUIDE TEAPOTS - THE CONNOISSEUR'S GUIDE, Christies Collectibles 1996
An informative and useful little book, which contains details of a wide range of
teapot styles, from Yixing China, to Japan to Germany and Britain.
Illustrated with full colour photographs, each teapot has a brief description of
its origins and its influences on other designs. A "price
code" is assigned to each pot to indicate an approximate monetary value.
This book would be very useful for the serious teapot collector.
